What types of documents can I scan with the IRIScan Express 4?
You can scan a wide range of documents including invoices, contracts, receipts, delivery notes, prescriptions, photographs, drawings, identity documents, business cards, plastic and laminated cards (including embossed), and credit cards. The scanner supports documents up to A4/Letter size and media up to 0.8 mm thick.
Does the scanner require batteries or an external power source?
No. The IRIScan Express 4 is entirely USB powered. Simply connect it to your PC via the included USB cable and it is operational immediately — no batteries, no charging, no warm-up time required.
Can I scan double-sided documents?
The IRIScan Express 4 is a simplex scanner with a single scanning sensor. For double-sided documents, you can feed them through the scanner twice — once for each side. The Readiris software then lets you merge both sides into a single multi-page PDF.
What software is included with the scanner?
The scanner includes Readiris PDF 23 (OCR software recognising 138+ languages for converting scans to Word, Excel, searchable PDF, indexed PDF, WAV, and ePub), Cardiris (business card recognition and contact management), and Button Manager (assign up to 9 customisable scan workflows).
Is the IRIScan Express 4 compatible with Mac?
The IRIScan Express 4 and its included software suite are designed for Windows (7, 8, 10, 11). Compatibility with recent macOS versions is not supported. Please refer to the product support page for the latest compatibility information.
Can I save scans directly to cloud services?
Yes. You can save scanned documents directly to Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, and other cloud services. This can be configured via Button Manager for one-click cloud saving.
How do I install the scanner software?
Download the all-in-one IRIS Installer from the product support page. Run the installer, connect the scanner via USB when prompted, select the Scanner Driver (TWAIN), Button Manager, and Readiris PDF 23, then click Close and restart your computer if asked.
Is the IRIScan Express 4 suitable for accessibility needs?
Yes. The scanner is compatible with text-to-speech software, screen readers, and assistive technology tools. Users who are dyslexic or visually impaired can send scanned documents directly to voice synthesis applications. Readiris also supports export to WAV audio format.
